Steel offers an unmatched combination of ride quality, durability, and repairability. A well-built steel frame can last decades, be repaired if damaged, and delivers a ride feel that many riders describe as "lively" and "connected." Modern steel tubesets are lighter than ever while maintaining that classic steel feel.
From deposit to delivery, most builds take 8-12 months. This includes consultation, design, frame building, paint, and final assembly. Complex builds or peak seasons may extend this timeline slightly. I'll provide a more accurate estimate during our consultation.
Lugged frames use traditional socket-like fittings at the tube junctions, creating that classic aesthetic many riders love. Fillet brazing creates smooth, sculptural joints without visible lugs. TIG welding uses modern techniques for clean, strong joints. All three methods produce excellent frames—the choice comes down to aesthetics and budget.
I offer both options. Many customers prefer complete builds where I source and install all components, ensuring perfect compatibility and a bike that's ready to ride. Others prefer frames only to build up themselves or with their local shop. We can discuss what works best for you.
